May 2016: Dr Pretorius, Principal Consultant of TERRATECH, attended a refresher CDEGS course (Level I and Level II training) in Canada. Even though he has been using CDEGS software since 1994, he pointed out that it is important to remain abreast with the software updates and the latest features in order to continue providing the best service to clients in line with TERRATECH’s vision.
June 2016: The contract was awarded to TERRATECH to conduct an earthing, EMC and lightning protection study at a new retrofit plant forming part of a larger Gas Plant in Oman. The study was successfully completed in June 2016 leaving another, highly satisfied client. Dr Pretorius, Principal Consultant of TERRATECH, stressed the value of engaging in international projects of this nature, especially from a South African perspective.
July 2016: Dr Pieter H Pretorius from TERRATECH, South Africa was invited as Subject Matter Expert to participate in the CEATI International Conference on Best Practices for EHV Line Design & Asset Management, 1-2 November 2016, San Diego, CA. Participation will be in the Lightning Session. Following the technical sessions, breakout sessions are scheduled during which challenges and mitigation will be discussed.
