Dr Pieter H Pretorius started operations as an independent consultant under the banner of TERRATECH (formerly Empetus Close Corporation) on 1 May 2005.

VISION:

To achieve excellence in both technical and business performance in satisfying the needs for electromagnetic technology transfer in selected and specific markets.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND:

With more than 17 years of experience in the R&D and technical support group of a large electric utility and 2 years in a military telecommunications environment, the Founding Member of TERRATECH has a total of more than 30 years’ experience in technical investigation and design that gives him a platform to specialise in the fields of earthing (grounding), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and lightning protection of industrial installations. He has the following academic qualifications:

  • B.Eng (Electrical and Electronics), 1985, Potchefstroom University
  • M.Eng (Bio-Engineering), 1990, University of Pretoria
  • PhD, 2000, University of the Witwatersrand
  • Programme in Business Leadership (PBL), 2001, University of South Africa (UNISA)
  • B.Eng (Hons) (Chemical), 2004, University of Pretoria.

He has registered 4 patents, is registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and holds membership of the South African Institute for Electrical Engineers (SAIEE), the Corrosion Institute of South Africa (CORRISA) and CIGRE (the International Council on Large Electric Systems).
